Investigators may have found the weapon used to murder a Spring Valley teenager.

Richard A. Henderson, 26, of Standard, is charged with hiding the Jan. 24 murder of Diamond Bradley, but not with the murder itself. Nonetheless, police have said they believe Henderson murdered Bradley. Henderson was arrested Feb. 5 and remains in jail.

Police have said Henderson met the 16-year-old Bradley online, then drove to her home and picked her up Jan. 24. Henderson then drove to 850 North Road in Putnam County, a few miles from Standard, where the two got into a fight, with Henderson stabbing the girl to death and leaving her body along the road. Her body was found three days later.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office reported they believe they found the murder weapon Wednesday at Color Point, a commercial greenhouse in rural Granville where Henderson worked. The weapon is being analyzed by the state police crime laboratory. Investigators said they had developed information Henderson had discarded evidence at the location.

The La Salle County Sheriff's Office, state police, Spring Valley police and the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team helped with the search at Color Point.

Henderson's next court hearing is Tuesday.
