Pair face drug charges from Ottawa stop

A traffic stop Sunday in Ottawa led to two drug arrests.

An Ottawa police officer stopped a green 2006 Pontiac in the 500 block of State Street for an alleged equipment violation, with a police dog then detecting drugs, said Detective Sgt. Mike Cheatham.

The driver, Brandon R. Stange, 25, Ottawa, was charged with driving while license revoked and possessing cocaine. The passenger, Levolia Pointer, 47, Ottawa, was charged with possessing heroin. Pointer was also wanted on a warrant for not showing at a December court hearing for a cocaine possession charge from March 2017.

The pair were taken to the county jail, with Stange needing $500 cash for bond and Pointer needing $2,500 cash. The public defender is representing them.
