STREATOR — Two of the more dominant student-athletes to come through Streator High School in recent years were voted earlier this week into the Streator High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
J.J. Cravatta (Class of 2012) and Chad Lucas (Class of 2009) were the committee's lone 2018 choices to enter the SHS Hall.
Cravatta became and still is the Bulldogs basketball program's all-time leading scorer. He was an all-state performer during his four-year varsity career, in 2011-12 leading the Streator boys basketball program to its first regional championship since 1968-69 and winning The Times Boys Basketball Player of the Year award. He was also a member of the first SHS conference champion golf team since 1981.
Lucas was an intimidating force on the basketball court, but even moreso on the football field where he was an IHSFCA All-State First Team honoree as well as a unanimous choice to The Times All-Area First team after recording 84 total tackles and helping lead the Bulldogs to their first — and still only — playoff victory in 2008.
Both Lucas and Cravatta will be officially inducted at the next SHS Athletic Hall of Fame banquet in 2021.
