SOMONAUK — Howard C. Hutchinson, 88, of Somonauk, passed away Monday, May 14, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 20, 1929, in Williamstown, Ky., the son of Fred S. and Shirley M. (Colcord) Hutchinson. He married Mona M. Hartman. After her passing, Howard married Jean M. Schultz on his 63rd birthday, which was also the day he officially retired.

He was a member of Somonauk Baptist Church and he was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Howard was a member of the Spring Valley Boat Club, the Elks, and the Moose. He was a pool contractor and eventually started his own business, Poolair LTD. Howard was a flight instructor at Sandwich Airport for a short time.

He enjoyed anything outside in nature, especially his garden and birds. Howard was a jack of all trades and a master of them all. He will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, of Somonauk; one son, Ronnie (Betsy) Hutchinson, of Earlville; one stepdaughter, Teri (Sherm) Eldridge, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; one stepson, Steve Schultz and Bill Vincent, of Yorkville; four grandchildren, Jason (Joy) Hutchinson, of Earlville, Casey (Alyssa) Hutchinson and Brock (Hilary) Hutchinson, both of Rochelle, and Dusty Hutchinson, of Earlville; one great-grandchild, Corey Hutchinson; and one sister, Dorothy McCullough, of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mona; one daughter, Tangie Hutchinson; and three brothers, Don, John, and Floyd.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk. Private family burial will follow in Precinct Cemetery in Earlville.
