Morris Hospital is hosting a blood drive in cooperation with Heartland Blood Centers from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, in Whitman Assembly Room 1 at Morris Hospital, 150 W. High St.
According to Heartland Blood Centers, blood donations are at a critically low level and the need for donors is urgent. Everyone who donates will receive a blood donor T-shirt compliments of the Chicago Bears and a free breakfast entrée from Chick-fil-A.
Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and feeling well on the day of donation, and be at least 17 years old. In Illinois, 16-year-olds may donate with written approval from a parent or guardian.
The entire process for donating blood takes about 45 minutes to one hour. Donors should bring a photo ID with proof of age. Those planning to donate should eat within four hours preceding the donation.
Appointments are recommended by calling Morris Hospital at 815-705-7370 or going online to heartlandbc.org. Walk-ins are welcome.
