Streator Jr. League makes title game

The Streator 14U Junior League All-Stars advanced to Wednesday's District 20 Tournament championship round against Oglesby at La Salle's Rotary Park via an 11-8 triumph Monday over the double-elimination bracket's only other unbeaten team, Oglesby.

Ryan Juricic (single, triple, two RBIs, three runs), Xander Boyles (two singles, two RBIs), Carl Sass (two singles) and Zander Middleton (two singles, double, three RBIs) led the Streator offensive attack, with Juricic (2 2/3 IP, 3 K), Boyles (2 2/3 IP, 3 K), Connor Novotney (1 IP, 3 K) and Sass (1 IP, 3 K) sharing mound duties.

Streator can claim the district banner with a win either Wednesday or Thursday (if needed) at Rotary Park.

Ottawa National 14s eliminated

At Rotary Park in La Salle, the Ottawa National Junior League All-Stars were eliminated Tuesday from the District 20 Tournament with a 14-4 loss to Oglesby. The game was tight until Oglesby scored nine unanswered runs in the home fourth, fifth and sixth to invoke the 10-run rule and advance to the championship series against unbeaten Streator.

Drew Damron provided two hits and two RBIs for Ottawa, with Payton Mangold also driving in a run. Kyland Benson was 1-for-1, and Ashton Billings scored two runs. John Feehan (4 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 3 K) pitched well but suffered the loss.

Expos see season come to end

The Ottawa Savings Bank 18U Expos' summer season ended Tuesday with an 18-0 loss to Midland, Ohio, in the AABC Connie Mack Mid-America Regional in Cincinatti. Haydon Price doubled, Mateo Sanchez singled, and losing pitcher Jared Herzog struck out a pair of Midland batters.

The previous day, the Expos won 4-2 over Ultimate Grid (Alex Stevenson winning pitcher, 1 ER, 2 K; Bryce Foster save, 1 ER, 3 K; Sanchez single, triple, game-winning two RBIs; Haydon Price RBI) and fell 9-3 to Nashville (Herzog 4 Ks; Peter Walsh double, two RBIs; Logan Cheatham single).

The Expos finished the season 16-5.

Streator 9s open Graff with 'W'

The Streator 9-Year-Old All-Stars won their opening game in their own Graff Tournament, 11-1 over Ottawa National. Kam Darrow (three hits, two RBIs), Madden McCloskey (three hits) and Brennen Stillwell (pitching win, two-run double) led the Streator attack, with Keegan Gassman, Brezdyn Simons and Isaac melvin all adding RBI hits.

Prior to that, Streator placed third in the Ottawa National Tournament thanks to a 6-1 topping of Peru. Simons (winning pitcher), Jared Clark (double), Sam Lorette and Madden McCloskey led the victors.


OGFA 13U Tournament

Stars 12, Blaze 8

Ally Fleming had three hits and Eva Heimsoth two for the No. 5 seed Blaze during their loss to the fourth-seeded Stars.

Hornets 17, Storm 2

The third-seeded Hornets beat the No. 6 seed Storm.

OGFA 10U Tournament

Magic 12, Mustangs 2

Ashlynn Ganiere had three hits and scored three runs to lead the No. 5 seed Magic offense during their win over the fourth-seeded Mustangs. Adelynn Russell struck out five batters over 3 1/3 innings pitched.

Haley Ewers had a hit and scored a run for the Mustangs.
