MARSEILLES AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY
Marseilles American Legion Auxiliary met July 10. President Vickie Finan opened the meeting. Chaplain Ruth Close led the ladies in prayer, with a moment of silence for veterans. Members recited the pledge and preamble. Secretary Jerri Brown took roll call, the June minutes and the poppy report. Treasurer Jill Mooneyham gave the treasury report. A La Salle Veterans Home visit will be Wednesday, July 25, with a theme of ice cream and watermelons. The Auxiliary will purchase items for the veterans home. Five gardens need decorative items. Finan reported on the Run for the Fallen dinner and stated the club needs 92 pounds more plastic to receive the bench. The Legion Installation will start with cocktails at 4 p.m., dinner at 5 p.m. and officers installation at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12. Saturday, Sept. 1, will be the 100th Legion Celebration dinner. Johnny Gray will perform. Steak, potato and salad will be $5. Senior lunch will be at noon Friday, July 13. Twin Oaks will host. Mooneyham stated dues of $30 need to be paid. Members 70 and older will be paid. The next meeting will be dinner at 6 p.m., with the meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14.
