SENECA — Barbara Jean Pike, 84, of Seneca, formerly of Marseilles, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, Aug. 4, with her daughters by her side.

A Celebration of Life will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, at Starved Rock Lodge with a short service and lunch following.

Barbara was born April 28, 1934, in Chicago, the third daughter of Elsa Rose Paich, and loving sister to the late Diane Ryan and Carol Delk.

She was married to the late Joseph J. Nowak for 40 years, and together they had five children, Patricia Kozmer, Diana Mihalcean (Wayne Bottoms), Lydia Nowak, Joseph Nowak I (Cindy Marcom) and William Nowak. She had six grandchildren, Darrel Kozmer, Tasha Knapczyk (Tom), Sean (Jonie Neria), Troy Mihalcean, Joseph Nowak II and Taylor Nowak; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends; her special sister, Henrietta “Peanuts” Bryan; and cousin, Jerry (Jean) Paich.

She spent her early years raising her children before working as a reference serial clerk at the Fountaindale Public Library in Bolingbrook.

She loved her family and enjoyed garage sales, cards, dice games, word searches, crossword puzzles and attending senior centers. She will always be loved and missed by all who knew her.
