Elizabeth C. ‘Betty’ Hansen



STREATOR — Elizabeth C. “Betty” Hansen, 93, of Streator, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Monsignor Philip Halfacre will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Solon-Telford Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Streator.

Born July 12, 1925, in Leonardtown, Md., she was the daughter of Charles and Olivia (Dent) Camalier. She married Robert W. Hansen on Aug. 14, 1946. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1976.

She is survived by daughters, Elizabeth (Patrick) Davis, of Overland Park, Kan., and Susan (Louis) Majercin, of Centralia; sons, Robert (Betty Jo) Hansen, of Peru, Mark (Ellie) Hansen, of Oswego, and Michael (Jan) Hansen, of Streator; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one due in November; and sisters, Ann Wathen, of Leonardtown, Md., and Mary Ellen Ashkenas, of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Charlotte Welch and Ruth Mattingly; a brother, Benjamin Camalier; and a son, Robert Jeffrey, in infancy.

Born and raised in Maryland, she relocated to the Streator area in the late 1940s along with her husband.

She worked as a nurse for St. Mary’s Hospital and then retired from the Streator Medical Clinic.

Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or the charity of the donor’s choice.
