A resident of an Ottawa home confronted an intruder Wednesday afternoon, which led to an arrest.
Leo D. Downey, 38, Ottawa, is charged with burglary. Downey is in the county jail, needing $4,000 cash for bond. The public defender is representing him.
Ottawa Detective Sgt. Mike Cheatham said a resident in the 300 block of West Superior Street reported at 2:50 p.m. confronting an intruder, who had entered through an unlocked window. The intruder then fled and the resident called police, describing the burglar.
Detectives spotted a man, who turned out to be Downey, matching the description in the 500 block of Deleon Street, Cheatham said. Investigation led to Downey being charged.
Downey has been on probation since March for burglary and shoplifting.
