The La Salle County Board approved more electricity-generating solar farms Thursday.
The board agreed to allow a solar farm about nine miles west of Streator, on the south side of Route 18 in Richland Township. The request was made by SRE Solar Origination. The board voted 22-4.
The other solar farm, approved by a margin of 21-3, is less than two miles southeast of Grand Ridge, along North 20th Road in Grand Rapids Township. The farm will be run by California-based Borrego Solar System.
Both solar companies are based in California, but have offices in Illinois.
Earlier this year, the board signed off on other solar projects in Groveland and Richland townships.
Board members who have voted against the solar farms have said they don't like cropland being taken out of cultivation.
