ELGIN — Wallace (Bud) B. Bohlin, 93, died Sunday, Oct. 7, peacefully of respiratory complications in Elgin.
He was born April 28, 1925, in Elgin, the oldest son of Walter and Hildur (Johnson) Bohlin. Following graduation from Elgin High School in 1943, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a combat infantryman in the Pacific theater until the end of World War II.
Bud attended Apostolic Christian Church of Elgin and worked for Commonwealth Edison for 37 years as a lineman and foreman before retiring and moving to Ottawa in 1996 with his wife, Lillian (Schock) Bohlin, whom he married on May 15, 1948.
He was preceded in death by Lillian; his parents; and older sister, Elaine (Bohlin) Siems.
Bud is survived by two brothers, Donald Bohlin, of Elgin, and Keith (Carol) Bohlin, of Minocqua, Wis.; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Rodney, of Palm Coast, Fla.; six children, Daniel (Jean) Bohlin, of Dubuque, Iowa, Constance (Robert) Kramer, of Elgin, Paula Kaspar, of Bourbonnais, Jeffrey (Peggy) Bohlin, of Westminster, Colo.; Valerie (Rodger) Smeets, of Ottawa and Kristina (Kevin) Bohlin, of Robins, Iowa; as well as 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Laird Funeral Home in Elgin, followed by graveside service and burial in Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin.
