No cause yet for Utica house fire

Firefighters from multiple departments responded to a serious fire in a two-story residence Tuesday evening at 620 Clark St., Utica, next to Mix's Trading Post. According to officials on the scene, the home was unoccupied at the time of the blaze, which started around 7 p.m. No injuries were reported.

A Wednesday night house fire in Utica is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office.

The Utica Fire District was requested at 7:53 p.m. to 620 S. Clark St. for a report of black smoke coming from a house. Utica fire units arrived on the scene within five minutes of the initial alarm, according to a press release. Upon arrival, crews found a working structure fire with a significant fire in the rear of the structure, which is located next to Mix's Trading Post.

Utica MABAS Box 101 was requested to the box level at 8 p.m. Units from La Salle, Oglesby, Wallace Township, Peru, Mendota, Troy Grove, Naplate and Tonica assisted, and the fire was under control in about an hour.

The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire. There were no injuries reported. There was no damage to nearby structures. Crews remained on scene until about midnight.
