OTTAWA — Daniel J. Ortiz, 77, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Ottawa Pavilion.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Ottawa Funeral Home with the Rev. Corey Krengiel officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
Danny was born Sept. 20, 1941, in Ottawa, to Benito and Juana (Rojas) Ortiz. He married Judith Ortiz in 1963 in San Jose, Calif.
Danny owned and operated Ortiz Painting for over 35 years.
He was a past member of St. Mary's Church and a present member of St. Columba Church. Danny volunteered at I CARE International with his brother. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the sun and the sea of Mexico. He was a loving husband and father who cared deeply for his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy; five children, Teresa (Sal) Martinez, Mark Ortiz, Ray (Patty) Ortiz, Angie (Randy) Greene and Robin Ortiz; six grandchildren, Brandon (Joy), Steven, Noah, Baylee, Ashley and Maleah; four great-grandchildren, Zadie, Hazel, Elliana and Lanni; three brothers, Phil (late Gay) Ortiz, Tony (late Pat) Ortiz and David (late Ruby) Ortiz; his sister-in-law, Margaret Ortiz; his brother-in-law, Ray Perez; his family dog, Chico; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lisa Marie; a sister, Mary Perez; and a brother, Dick Ortiz.
