A 22-year-old DePue man was arrested following a cocaine bust in Peru.
Tri-DENT agents, assisted by Peru Police SIU Detective unit, conducted a controlled buy of more than 1 gram of purported cocaine from Victor Baez on the 700 block of Shooting Park Road in Peru, according to a press release issued by Tri-DENT.
Baez was charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance — cocaine and taken to La Salle County Jail where bond was set at $1 million. He will need $100,000 for release.
Baez said in court Friday he will hire a private attorney. His next hearing is set for 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, in Judge H. Chris Ryan's courtroom. If found guilty of the felony, Baez faces a fine of up to $25,000 or four to 15 years in prison.
