Police blotter 12-2-19

Haley M. Dobrydnia, 27, homeless, was arrested twice on Saturday on a complaint of retail theft and on a La Salle County failure to appear in court warrant on a charge of retail theft. Dobrydnia was given a notice to appear for the complaint of retail theft and taken to the county jail for the warrant charge.

Alex L. Mosley, 30, homeless, was cited Saturday in the 2100 block of Somerset Drive on a complaint of criminal trespass to state-supported property. Mosley was released with a court date.

La Salle County

Joshua Crockett, 33, La Salle, was cited at 5:09 p.m. Saturday at East 15th Road and North 1659th Road in Bruce Township on a complaint of operating an uninsured motor vehicle following a crash. Crockett was southbound on East 15th Road when a deer ran onto the roadway. Crockett was unable to avoid striking the deer but no injuries were reported.

Fire calls

Ottawa firefighters responded at 7:13 p.m. Saturday and 12:42 p.m. Sunday to 906 Canal St. for alarms set off by cooking.

Ottawa firefighters responded at 2:17 p.m. Sunday to 1446 Dakota Drive for a report of an oven fire. The fire was out but smoke remained upon arrival. The owner had removed the food and threw baking soda and a wet cloth on the heating element in an attempt to extinguish the fire. The heating element had shortened out causing sparks and flames on the bottom of the oven. The oven was unplugged.

Ottawa firefighters responded at 3:36 p.m. Sunday to 2125 Fox Hill Lane for an odor investigation but monitors did not detect gas.

Ottawa firefighters responded at 5:11 p.m. Sunday to 820 Columbus St. for an odor investigation. Monitors detected carbon monoxide and gas was shut off in the home. Firefighters stood by until Nicor arrived.

Ottawa firefighters responded at 7:46 p.m. Sunday to 1111 W. McKinley Road for an alarm caused by a faulty smoke detector.

Streator firefighters responded at 12:22 a.m. Monday to Illinois and Bridge streets for a report of a vehicle crash.

Streator firefighters responded at 6:14 a.m. Monday to Hickory and Otter Creek streets for a report of a vehicle crash.
