AREA ROUNDUP: Lady Bobcats notch fourth victory of the season

Lady Norsemen, Lady Knights suffer rare defeats

SOMONAUK — The Somonauk Lady Bobcats defeated the Hiawatha Hawks 46-28 in a Little Ten Conference girls basketball game Monday night.

Somonauk (4-15 overall, 3-2 LTC) outscored Hiawatha 34-14 during the middle two quarters.

Maggie Roberts scored 16 points to lead the Lady Bobcats. Ashley Eaton grabbed six rebounds.

Serena 52, Hinckley-Big Rock 31

At Serena, the Lady Huskers (13-8, 4-1) beat the Lady Royals in an LTC game.

Katie Baker recorded a triple-double — scoring 18 points, grabbing a dozen rebounds and dishing out 12 assists, in addition to swiping six steals — to lead Serena.

Taylor Staton posted a double-double, scoring 12 points and snaring 11 boards.

Indian Creek 57, Newark 52

At Shabbona, the Lady Norsemen (14-6, 4-1) were defeated by the Timberwolves in an LTC contest.

Jocelyn Mitchell had 19 points for Newark. Kaitlyn Hatteberg and Meggie Scott each had 13 points. Kellie Snyder had 15 rebounds. Scott had nine assists.

Seneca 44, Henry-Senachwine 29

At Seneca, the Lady Irish (14-6, 6-0) beat the Lady Mallards in a Tri-County Conference game.

Seneca was up 15-6 after one quarter, 28-9 at the half and 36-15 trhough three periods of play.

Brooklyn Greitz scored 14 points to lead the Lady Irish.

Eureka 53, Fieldcrest 46

At Eureka, the Lady Knights (18-3, 6-2) were defeated by the Hornets in a Heart of Illinois Conference contest.

Fieldcrest rallied back from a 41-27 fourth-quarter deficit to take a 46-45 lead, but Eureka closed the game on a 7-1 run.

Ella Goodrich and Alyx Carls each had 10 points for the Lady Knights.

Streator 66, Manteno 36

At Manteno, the visiting Lady Bulldogs kept their hot streak going with the road Illinois Central Eight Conference victory.

The win — Streator's third straight — lifts SHS to 9-10 on the season.

Boys basketball

Earlville 65, Midland 54

At Earlville, the Red Raiders (13-7) defeated the Timberwolves in a nonconference game.

Landon Larkin scored 19 points to lead Earlville. Michael Sansone added a dozen points.
