More than 90% of Grand Ridge voters supported the village taking a $1 million loan to pay for waterworks system improvements.

In unofficial results, 156 voters said yes to borrowing the money, while 14 said no.

Grand Ridge Mayor Tammi Larabee issued a statement Wednesday morning: "On behalf of the Village Board, I want to thank the many village residents who voted in favor of the referendum. The village will now receive a grant of $297,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which will be applied to the new water tower construction costs. The water revenue bonds will be used as security for a loan to the village from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The USDA loan will have a very low interest rate and a 40-year repayment term to finance the cost of the water tower construction. This is a great result for the village and its residents."
