Interstate 80 eastbound will be closed in the La Salle-Peru area beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, to 5 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, between Interstate 39 and Route 251 exits.
The ramps at Route 251 and Route 351 to eastbound Interstate 80 will be closed.
The closure is needed for emergency repairs on the bridge carrying eastbound Interstate 80 over the Little Vermilion River.
During the closure, motorists can utilize Route 251 north to U.S. 52 east, then Interstate 39 south to Interstate 80 east. Westbound Interstate 80 will remain open.
The work is part of a larger project to repair or replace the Interstate 80 bridges over the Little Vermilion River, East Third road and Raccuglia Drive. Construction on westbound Interstate 80 is expected to last until late fall, and work on eastbound Interstate 80 will begin next spring.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Avoid this area when feasible.
